Lore: Abyss & Arcana

Image
In Malteria Magic is a force known truly to only a few, though there are court wizard’s here and there and witches practicing in secret, druids calling upon the very earth and clerics and their gods. Many can wield it, but few to it’s true potential extent. To truly wield magic one must master the access or control over the Arcana or Abyss respectively. Arcana The Arcana is one of the two forces that has always been, it flows ever churning the very fabric of what makes all things; a force left behind in whatever created all we call home. Arcana is the first of two ways magic is used since all things are made of it, it’s the easier of the two to use. The two most common ways to “use” Magic through Arcana is via Inner and Outer Nodes. Inner Nodes being a part of part of one's self, are accessed by an awakening of some kind, be it that you family lineage was mixed with that of a dragon, or ghosts, or some other creature of power. Nation: LuthericBurg

The Silver Age of Nidal Nidal was founded by a small group of farmers, miners and scholars leaving from somewhere deeper in the center of Malteria. Their exact reasons for leaving has long been lost to history, but many suspect the exodus came about due to political differences. By the end cities third century it had become a small hold ...

Place of Interest: Underkeep

Image
The Underkeep was one of many places once built by the wizards of Nidal as bunker, called Arcane Barrows, in case they needed protection from some disatorious spell, or in the Underkeep’s case wanted to be left alone. This particular Arcane Barrow was used by the twin wizards Jesper-The Ever Living, and Nizam-The First Necromancer (and magus of the Order Arcanus) the brothers had devised this Barrow as a safe haven for their less scrupulous actions such as necromancing people, seeking ever greater immortality, and other quasi-blasphemous actions. Though due to his oft leaving the Barrow for his business in the Tower of Nidal eventually Nizam was captured by the Jailers of Oricalcos, Prison of the Old Gods, he would eventually escape though through unknown means. And as such he would eventually become entrapped in the Tower after the cataclysm. Jesper, however, fared much better as he had long before attained his “immortality” this being the case he never left the Barrow mostly keeping ...

The Spur Dogs lack the intelligence and capabilities of their cousins however, being entirely feral animals without a hint of civil thought beyond base level pack mentality. They are also considerably smaller than the Dire Wolf, but make up for their stature and lack of tool making with hyper-aggression and dozens of boney protrusions across their body ...
