Nation: LuthericBurg

The Silver Age of Nidal

Nidal was founded by a small group of farmers, miners and scholars leaving from somewhere deeper in the center of Malteria. Their exact reasons for leaving has long been lost to history, but many suspect the exodus came about due to political differences. As the village settled in the mountainous region on the norther coast of Malteria it slowly prospered on the course of a century it became a large city, amassing a wealthy economy via its export on silver and other precious minerals. The city would also become famous for the academies in the city, three of which of note, Luthernium Academy of the Public: a mercantilism and vocational school founded by the most famous and prestigious political leader Luther Von Rossenburg, The Arcanium: a place that studied many esoteric things from around the world, and Academy of the Brave: a simple military school that trained the cities guard and small garrison.

By the end cities third century it had become a small hold all to is own having outpost littered around the mountain range it called home. It was able to expand largely unopposed as the only other locals were simple folk of no organized alliance, most simply joined the virgining nation, the rest fled or moved peacefully elsewhere. It was at the apex of the third era that Nidal’s Arcanium had discovered that through focused use of a rare silver alloy, Mythril, in tandem with religious rituals to the local god, whose name and origin has been lost to time, they could perform magic. The coming centuries to follow would see Nidal become the esoteric and eldritch force it was feared as before the cataclysm. Towards the end of this age the last great orders were born. The Order Arcanus: a order of eight powerful wizards each of one the schools of magic, lead by an enigmatic man who only went by the name Nidal his influence and infamy largely contributing to the most widely spread name for this fallen nation whose name ,as much else in these nations history, is lost. Legionnaire Magika: a garrison of one hundred powerful wizards whose duty it was to protect the capital city, done via mass ritual casting performed by each wizard in tandem. Finally, The Brave a order of elite Magi numbering in the hundreds, though not as powerful as the other orders wizards the weave sword and spell to defend the nation's territories, as well as commanding the garrison of the nation proper.

The Cataclysm

During the time known only to contemporary scholars as the , Cataclysm, as the lands further south became plagued and cursed to undeath the central Nidal hold remained untouched due in large to the field of pure magic energy produced by the Legionnaire Magika, who could prepare it just time thanks to the warning from the Seer of the Order Arcanus. However, in the nation's historical records that’s not the event they referred to. It instead are talking about an event that occurred a century later. Nidal, the man, sought ways to further the magic might of the nation and the order. He along with two other wizards of the order, Master of Enchantments and Illusions alike, attempted to force an artificial Ley Line nexus point by converting raw life energy into mana, as they did using Mythril, only on a much more concentrated scale. The Seer of the order blinded by the sheer power of the mana being focused barely managed to see the horrors to come by an hour before they happened. He knowing he could not talk Nidal down instead turned to the Legionnaire Magika and gave them one the focused Mythril Gems, his former comrades had crafted, and instructed the ritual leader on how to focus with it, through the Seers guidance and the Legions ritual magic they managed to trap in ensuing explosion inside the city. As the wizards had not realized that pouring so much life energy in the mana stream of the Ley Lines, in such large portions was tearing a hole into the Abyss. The realm of emotions and desire turned into writhing flesh known to the few aware as, Demons. The following explosion killed nearly everyone in the city save for the furthest sections of the city. At that time the few Order Arcanus members the Seer had been able to warn were already teleporting as many as the surviving citizens as they could to a small citadel north of the city. The Legion unable to hold in the explosion any longer, and succumbing to the raw power of the explosion and the focused Mythril Gem disappeared as they were all vaporized into screaming mist that congealed into the pure mana of the whole Legion, the mist than entered the Gem and was blown away in the fiery winds of the explosion. The ensuing chaos spread miles inland between Nidal proper and more central cities that had fallen a century earlier. The city churned as the Abyss opened into the world but for a moment but that brief period saw the city torn asunder and all those caught within the city and not killed were blighted by the Abyss, meaning once they died they too would turn into Demons, a curse that still plagues the nation even now in current day.

LuthericBurg

The decade following the cataclysm in NIdal the remaining members of the Order Arcanus along with what remained of The Brave lead survivors in the effort to rebuild and start anew. They founded their new home in the surrounding valley of the citadel the Order had some time ago began to build as a bulwark to the unknown sea. LuthericBurg was what the city would come to be called, in honor to the most note worthy leader in their history, Luther. Nothing of much note occurs between this time and the present, the Order Arcanus remains largely empty save a few from the time of the cataclysm, they choosing the try an avoid another mishap in leadership by confining themselves to the citadel until such a time they are needed only accepting members who can complete ever difficult quests, as of present only one person has managed to join after five decades abroad. The Brave have as well confined themselves to the citadel, however with caveat that they would allow their halls open to the public and continue to train warriors to fight the encroaching Demon horde.
