Place of Interest: Pine Haven
In some corners of the world there are places connected to nature in a way that not simple being a ranger or hunter can reach. Pine Haven is one such place the home of a Druid circle Known as the "Shifters of the Shadows" named such as the are the very circle lead by woman of mystery known as Otoa, Lady of the Abyss. The lady and her druids are a circle dedicated to understanding the Abyss and making full use of it, commonly in the preservation of nature.
The Shifters are not what all druids are the power of the shadows is something only a select few druids are trained for. Were the average druid of the circle makes use of the Abyss as any other magic user of the kind might. A Shifter however, due in part to a special ritual preformed by Otoa, becomes one with the very Abyss and shape shifts into any bestial form they desire and it is these few druids alone that can truly change form. If a need to defend their home arises it is the Shifter that are sent out to defend it. Using stealth, and ambush tactics rather than a straight forward fight. Using the element of surprise to make the most of both their raw power and the terrain. Making the a powerful foe or allies.
Otoa has more mystery surrounding her however. The druids being less open about her, to a point no one has meet her either. Not any outsiders at any rate. We know she has some powerful connection to the Abyss and can even possible directly use it, and that she arrived some time after the fall of Nidal, and planted the "Tree of Infinite Shade" that is the center of the shire and her personal abode.
A Shifter of the Shadows
Otoa, Lady of the Abyss
Even though it is a small shire mostly inhabited by the druids themselves, people of many races can be found in Pine haven usually in an attempt to escape some fate outside the shires wall, but so long as they agree to the druids conditions they are more than welcome to stay and contribute.
Recently however long range expedition teams from Norastrah made contact with the druids and have began talks that would allow the River lords passage through the territory with out harm and even possible protection.
