Tales of Malteria: Cove of Ten Winds (part 1)

It had been months since the crew lead by Deliza Pentigrast had set off to sail the northern seas in search of new lands, and to forge maps anew for the realm proper. Deliza stands on the deck of the ship speaking with her halfling companion. "Why is it yuuer' always gett' meh into sucho places like dis las?" gargles the angry Halfling warrior Jarl Oxboe, steaming mad at his human companion. "Must you bark so? Unfitting for a guard of a noble, proud adventurer. Besides your coin purse is fat and your gut fatter. What have you to complain?" Deliza the tall slender human woman, flips a lock of her ember red hair from her face as she slyly prods the Halfling. The two argue on as a man walks over covered head to toe with elixirs, potions, blades of many different makes and leather armor that has the musk of cedar and lilac, befitting a hunter of Junifir. As he saunters over he breaks the squabble between the two like a tired father listening to his bickering children "Come now...Can you two not be left for moment? Too bicker with a sodding Half-one Ms. Pentigrast...Thought you'd be above it?" The arguing pair bark a few more mild insults towards each other before calming and looking to the man. Deliza flips her hair and takes a defiant stance before speaking "Ah, sir hunter, Deedjra. While good form would have me respect such a note of my stature and poise myself in a better light when speaking with a crewmen in a position as captain...My temper however must see me tell you to mind your business, you are here for me to hunt monsters not to monitor my argumentative tendencies." The hunter looks on at Deliza "In other words.." he says in a low voice "In other words sod off" Deliza finishes his thought.

Deliza Pentigrast, Norastrahan Noble.                                 Jarl Oxboe, Vassal to the Pentigrast family.

"Of course Miss, Ill be with the lookout" He nods to them both before walking off. "He ain't knowing how we beh...eh wotever, I'm to make my rounds with the crew now" Jarl nods and walks off his left leg limping as always. Deliza looks to the sky for a moment letting a joyful sigh slip out as she closes her eyes letting the breeze hit her face. After all for one so struck with wanderlust as she was, the open sea is one of the most free places to be. After standing for a time she begins to walk to the helm she remembers she needs to speak with the engineer. Standing with the helmsmen is an Earasi woman, short and stocky like most Earasi, With long braided hair that hangs around her head like vines from an old tree stump, held back from her face by the gold circlet. Fierce looking in her stone-mail armor she is leaned over a table checking blue-prints of the ships they sail on now. She being the engineer of the small cruiser the, Golden Sturgeon, she pours over the plans to plan repairs. "Hail! How do you fair Freya? still trying to preempt danger to the ship in you on head?" Deliza strolls over and pats Freya on the back as she speaks. Freya jumps but doesn't lose her composure. "Ah, Capn' I am fine. Never hurts to be prepared, Besides i cant see the future unlike some of us." She nods to a woman walking up from the stairs, a tall very slender woman ash grey skin and sunken dark eyes, with blue glowing iris', dressed with a lacy black robe that could almost be mistaken for cob-web covering her body. One could almost take her for a skeletal doll. A Lutheric the ships navigator and a Diviner Magus. "Ah, good morning Cirilla, Do you visions bode well?" Deliza asks. Cirilla chuckles meekly for a moment before answering "I..am..fine, though i find your understanding of magic lacking dear Ms. Pentigrast. I would never waste such precious sources to know so little" Freya charges at Cirilla and stands with her chest to hers and begins to bark at her "You could at anytime be giving us the knowledge to be prepared for any given danger yet you do not? Why is that witch? The demon blood in you veins what to see us struggle and toil on the sea!" Before Cirilla can retort a cry comes from the crows nest.

"Laaaaannnnddd, OF THE STARBOARD SIDE" cries the Lookout. Deliza wheels herself to the helmsmen "Start us on a course now!" the helmsmen nods in response. Deliza cries to the lookout "What else can you see!" a moment passes, then another, finally after a few minutes the look out calls back "Buildings mam! And ships...on the land, stack atop each other! They fly colors! Skulls some have, and others too!" Deliza ponders for a moment, then turns to Cirilla "Please i need an augur about this place Cirilla, Use my blood this time." Cirilla nods and sits in place she takes a rolled up clothe from within her robe and rolls it out in front of herself. It is covered in Runes sewn into, and a circle  of runes in the center of it with a large blood stain in it center. "Come...sit..we may begin" Shes Deliza walks over and sits in front of her on the opposite side of the cloth. She extends her hand plam to the sky towards Cirilla, the mage then takes it and cuts it with a knife made of bone with a handle wrapped in hair an eye embedded in the pummel. As she cuts Deliza's palm the eye on the knife begins to twitch violently. Cirilla turns Delizas hand over palm facing the cloth now, letting the blood flow onto the cloth. Cirilla chants in a language none present understand her eyes glow as she does so. After a time when Deliza's hand stops bleeding naturally Cirilla stops chanting her eyes no longer glow, and all is silent. Deliza wraps her hand in a torn cloth and stands. "Well..Cirilla?" The magus stands and rolls the cloth up and stores it once again. "You are to meet an ancient thing on that island, something that the people of the island follow..they are pirates, but not just common thieves. Strong winds in your future and we ill be trapped on that island for a time."

Cirilla, Diviner Magus of The Order.

The magus' augur hangs in the air for a time. Finally Freya breaks the silence "Then simple, we dont go to the island. We are looking of new land not trying to trifle with pirates. Capn' surly you dont-" Deliza cuts through Freya's sentence her words like a fine blade "Nay! We are indeed looking for new land but have you forgot about the past augurs? Not one wrong. And If something dangerous is there it may do us well to meet it!" Freya begins to argue but as she and Deliza start at each other with firey words the ships smashes against the shore capsizing the ship crashing it against the shore and flinging the crew on to the earth.
