Lore: The Primortals and the Elemental Lords.

Image
After the beginning of the first cycle and the Old Gods reigned long and prosperous, near the cycles end when what was left of the primordial energies that forged the Old Gods at the end of the Rupture the last of its energy molded into the Primortals and the Elemental Lords. The Primortals were races of beings that meet nearly all but one or two of the qualities to be quantified as deities, living somewhere between deity and mortal. These being the Fey, and Glonwyr among others It is said the Oricalcons are counted among the Primortals. Most of the Primortals would go on through the early cycles forging societies, innovations, and cultures that  have stood the test of time through the cycles. Though they are between gods and men Primortals often do not seek to attempt to attain deity-hood rather most wanted (or wish) to be what connects the mortals to the immortals. The Fey with their direct link to beings like Oberon, Glonwyr through their extensive records, and the Oricalcon ...

Place of Interest: Brood Patch Tribes

Image
Located to the south of the Khalakian tribes are thick swampy jungles that house large patches of gourds of many varieties, among these patches hides small tribes of people and creatures. The Gogodasian people live among the gourds along side creatures known as, Gourd Kin, strange creatures of many different shapes and sizes.  The Gogodasians are a tribe that migrated from Gleshmere ages back. And were among the original that were called the pumpkin cultist in the old continent. largely peaceful except to those that disrespect gourds, they are a pacifist people. The only warrior's being the Gourd Kin, due to their large size and powerful vine appendages though much like the lesser denizens they too are scarce violent. Gogodasians are tall peoples with lanky frames, long slender fingers and toes, with ruddy orange-copperish skin. Large yellow eyes, small round ears and noses that run long down their faces, and wide mouths with thin lips. Usually earthen color natural hair such ...

Lore: The Deities of Malteria

Image
Like most realms religion permeates Malteria, for most it is a personal thing. Shared with families at most and at best a thoughtful discussion by good friends. Cities or nations may have temples but they serve only as public places where no real gathering takes place but rather a place individuals or small groups go from time to time to evoke the deity.  Though not recognized by most mortals, or shorter lived peoples like the Awoken or Gleshmerian, and Native Malterians. Pantheon of Deities do in fact exist. Most of the truly notable and powerful ones are in the esoteric Pantheon known as the Old Gods. Others group together based on how they came into being and others still on a great variety of reasons. Deities of Malteria are not pure forces of the cosmos or reality though they may command some portion of such things. Truly what Deities are, but the primordial energies of when the Arcana and Abyss came into being, in an event known to the Old Gods as the Rupture. Though littl...

Lore: The Dreamers

Image
The Dreamers are a constant nuisance for the peoples of the world, and a grave danger if allowed to congregate in large enough numbers or marshaled through a rouge magic wielder. The Dreamers are lesser undead, and unlike other types of this species they are clumsy and easily dealt with in single combat. The danger of the creatures comes from their immense numbers and their propensity to arrive almost anywhere at any time if the conditions are right. The Dreamers are born of a curse cast upon Humanity in the waning days of the Necerach Wars of the 3rd Cycle. After the Purging of Mons-Gar by the Paladins of Vilhmae, The Ythrian Legion and the Pridesmen of Mounbreath the Mystispotentate of the Necerach's, the most powerful wizard of their race wove a magical disease into the fate of humankind. This was the Curse of Constant Death, dooming every human who has died to be cycled into the ether during waking hours and in the dead of night cast back into the realms to walk in agonizi...

Lore: Martial Bodies of the River Lords

Image
The Gleshmerians, as a ethnic group have a proud military history, upon their home continent the armies of Ythr and Mounbreath were reknowned for their martial capabilities in handling the Vilhmae Revolts and the Necerach Wars. When the Fall of Ythr occurred the mass exodus of the Gleshmerian peoples to Malteria left the fighting spirit of the society largely broken. In the centuries since the establishment of their first settlements on the continent the legends and traditions of the military forces of old Gleshmere have been the guiding light by which the new armed forces of the post-fall nations would forge themselves. THE RIVER LORDS. While the River Lords as a nation adopted an official policy of peaceful non military proliferation, it has always been common knowledge that the mighty central Malterian Oligarchy dealt heavily in shadowy dealings with mercenaries, assassins and political dissidents. When the Dark Wardens invaded northwestern Malteria and assaulted the Lordsmen...

Tales of Malteria: Unquiet Silence

Image
In the Northarm they have a saying. "The Bleakwoods are Unquietly Silent" An oxymoron referring to the feeling of  dread and tension one gets there. Perhaps we forgot about such simple sayings with the war, all the drama of the past few years. But the Bleak did not forget. And it did remind us. The band of thirty levy militia slowly trod from the armies encampment at Unicorn Grove. The gentle cadence of rustling canteens, axes and bedrolls breaking the stillness of the crisp early morning air. Not even the crows dared to break the blanket of sleepiness which hung about the place in such pervasive sheets, mixing and clinging intimately to the autumn fog.             Carne yawned lazily, he had been with the reformed Army of the North for only a handful of months and was not yet used to the taxing hours of a soldiers life. He had pictured the whole ordeal as being significantly more dramatic when he had left Bluffpointe. At ...
