After the beginning of the first cycle and the Old Gods reigned long and prosperous, near the cycles end when what was left of the primordial energies that forged the Old Gods at the end of the Rupture the last of its energy molded into the Primortals and the Elemental Lords.
The Primortals were races of beings that meet nearly all but one or two of the qualities to be quantified as deities, living somewhere between deity and mortal. These being the Fey, and Glonwyr among others It is said the Oricalcons are counted among the Primortals. Most of the Primortals would go on through the early cycles forging societies, innovations, and cultures that have stood the test of time through the cycles. Though they are between gods and men Primortals often do not seek to attempt to attain deity-hood rather most wanted (or wish) to be what connects the mortals to the immortals. The Fey with their direct link to beings like Oberon, Glonwyr through their extensive records, and the Oricalcon with their mastery of the Arcana and Abyss. Among the other notable Primortals are Giants, Dragons, Axioms, and Brownies.
The Elemental Lords are much in the same way as the Primortals, between gods but not merely mortal either. The lords are different from the Primortals however in that they gain power from being worshiped and can even lend strength or powers to those that evoke them, the only real thing not making the lords gods is that they can be killed by rather simply means, if of course not very easy ones. There are five Elemental Lords in total each commanding powers and control over their respective element(s).
Khalash, the Lord of Fire and father to the fire elementals, taking the form of a salamander made of pure fire, he ruled over a land of soot and ash, ever burning braziers hang all around his land. He fuels the heat of the realms and wakes the Nymphs of Seasons for Summers arrival. He was most vain of the Elemental Lords seeking to attain true deity-hood and in doing so he started, what became known as, the Cinder Fury War, a short lived conflict where he and his armies of elementals burned their way across the realm to Oricalcon, the place where the Old Gods visited most in an attempt to kill one to attain its power, however his forces halted by the armies of two of the elemental lords and he him self trapped in a prison and guarded by a giant.
Yandraga, the Lord of Earth and progenitor of the earth elementals, like most earth elementals he takes the form of sea life, most often of a giant whale made of many different stones and magma. Ruling over a large desert and savanna his land has many forms of stone and hills even a mountain filled with gems of all varieties, including mythril. It was Yandraga that built with his own flesh, and mythril, the prison now known as the House of Khalash, to imprison his brother, it is the mythril that prevents him from burning his way out. For he is ash in the prison and with nothing that can burn he cannot escape.
Vether, Lord of Air and mother to air elementals, runs through the skies of the cloud kingdom in the shape of a mighty wolf , a place formed entirely of clouds and wind with lakes of rain yet to fall. Some say that she knows of Krion'Krion's location and often visits her. Though if she is alive that is another story. It was by the winds of Vether that the flames torching the countryside were snuffed out and it was her army that helped stop Khalashes.
Floxex, Lord of Water and creator of the water elementals, often seen in the form of a blue dragon made of water and coral, her kingdom is a large coral city filled with lush and vibrate plants. She uses her powers to try and assist shorter lived beings by ensuring water ways flow properly and fish are bountiful. It was her that snuffed the very flame of Khalash long enough for Yandraga to force him in the prison and the giant to secure him, it was her army that helped stop the forces of Khalash.
Vox, Lord of Aether and father of aether elementals, He is a being of pure light energies made up of light from the Arcana, Abyss and the starry heavens. His home is that of a comet that circles the realms sky every 10 years, from there he watches the others at work and ensures balance in all things magic...as best he can. He was not present in the events to stop Khalash, reasons unknown.
